November Observances
- Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) – Nov 1–2 in Mexico and in communities of Mexican heritage: families build altars for deceased loved ones, share memories, candles and marigolds in a colorful and heartfelt tribute.
- Thanksgiving (United States) – Celebrated on the November 27th, Thursday of November: a day for giving thanks, gathering with family and friends, enjoying a feast and reflecting on the year’s blessings.
- National pet cancer awareness month – Observed throughout November (from November 1 to November 30). This month-long campaign raises awareness about cancer in pets (dogs, cats, etc.), encourages early detection and veterinary care, and supports research into treatments to improve pet quality of life.
- World Kindness Day – Thursday, November 13. This observance spreads the message of kindness across borders, encouraging simple acts of compassion and fostering connection and goodwill among people and communities
- Veterans Day (USA) / Armistice Day (France & elsewhere) – Nov 11: A day to honor military veterans and commemorate the end of World War I in many places.
- Black Friday – Friday, November 28th.Marks the unofficial start of the U.S. holiday shopping season, when many retailers offer major discounts and people gather for deals.
- World Diabetes Day – Friday, November 14 each year. This global awareness day was created by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in 1991, becoming an official UN day in 2006, to highlight the escalating challenges of diabetes and the need for better prevention, diagnosis, and care.
